An Award!

Morita from Inspirational Beading gave The Craft Map a wonderful award. Here is what she has to say:
"

Introducing The Empanda Blog Award

The Empanda Blog Award by Inspirational Beading
Receiving recognition, or a thumbs up from our peers is a wonderful feeling. When a fellow blogger receives a meme award, and chooses to pass it on to you, it’s a great compliment - a sign that you’ve been noticed and that your blog is pretty darn good.

Recently, I was inspired by some of my fellow blog artists to create an award of my own. The Empanda Award is named for the Roman goddess of kindness and generosity. Also referred to as Panda, her temples were true sanctuaries, and often distributed food to the needy instead of hoarding it.

The Empanda Blog Award is for bloggers who inspire us with their kindness and generosity. It is for bloggers who do good deeds, such as sharing their knowledge freely, or promoting the work of others.

I am giving the first official Empanda Blog Award to three very special bloggers, who have given me much reason to smile over the past few weeks. Their hard work and friendly nature are great examples to anyone who is trying to stand out in the realm of blogging."

We've Reached A Milestone!

We’ve reached a milestone and it took 27 days, 15 hours, 19 minutes and 0 seconds.

So what am I talking about? We gained our 100th mapper! And she is – drum roll please - Allison Rosen from Within a Quarter Inch.

What is unique about Allison, in my opinion, is that she has a podcast. So, in honor of Allison:

Things Are Always Changing

Things are always changing here at The Craft Map - and for the better too. Daily, updates are made to the map adding new crafters. Continue to see who is crafting in your area of the world.

New features arrive too! If you take a look at the Crafters by List page,  you'll see that lists have been added. The new lists feature mappers on Facebook and Twitter. So now, you can easily follow each other, become friends and keep up to date. If you do use a link, please let them know you found them on The Craft Map.

We've Reached That Point

I knew we would reach this point sometime, I didn't know how fast we would get there. I have added so many crafter bloggers that I can no longer add a button for each site, there isn't enough real estate on the map. The buttons were beginning to overlap. I spent considerable time updating last night so now there is one button per state with a list of crafters under each state listing. The blogs are listed in alphabetical order. Take a look, there is also a page that lists each craft blogger by location as well as those that offer instructions and those that sell on ArtFire or Etsy.

Please continue to share this blog with fellow crafters as well as supporting each other.

Consider reaching out to the other bloggers in your state or those that work in the same medium. And mention you found them on The Craft Map.

One Week and Growing!

WOW mom, look at us grow!

We are just over one week old. A lot has happened in that week. I’ve heard a lot of nice comments (and one negative almost stalker) and a few suggestions. The suggestions are welcomed and have been acted upon as best as possible to better the site.

  • We’ve added 30 crafters to the site.
  • We have a Give Away feature where you can list your give-aways using McLinky.
  • We’ve had interest from crafters outside the US. With enough interest, I could see additional continents being added. Right now they “float” in the water area due to software restrictions.
  • Put in place the format to promote a featured blogger.
  • Started to advertise the site and receive advertisements.
  • Gained 32 facebook followers. (link box to the right)
  • Gained 13 Networked Blog followers. (link box at the bottom)
  • Started a Twitter page. http://twitter.com/thecraftmap

Things to look for in the future:
  • A featured blog give-away. (each week? Each month?)
  • A featured blogger. – the first one coming soon!
  • More blog lists – if you have any ideas, let me know. In place are an Etsy and Artfire list as well as an instruction list.

Things you can do:
  • Promote The Craft Map to your fellow crafters.
  • Join the groups at Facebook, Networked Blog, and Twitter.
  • Drop me a note or make a suggestion.
  • Let me know if The Craft Map has generated any page views for you.
  • Visit the resources page; these links help support the site.

I will continue to work hard for you promoting The Craft Map. As I have said, I thought this was a good idea and one I thought the craft community could use. When I started The Craft Map I had no idea how it would be received, I have been blessed with the initial turn out. My hope is that it continues to grow and is a benefit to you all.

Welcome!

Welcome to The Craft Map. We are so excited you are here. Beginning a new adventure always comes with a variety of emotions. Growing through the idea stage, and actually implementing the ideas and getting everything to work was an exercise in patience. So, here we are, releasing our baby to the public and waiting with baited breath to see how we are received - welcome to our unveiling! Your participation will let us know that our idea was a good one in which we can grow upon and add additional functions as we age.

Take a look around, enter your information to be added to the map (use the "join the map" link in the black bar at the top of the page or follow this link), visit other crafters, find others that do similar work, and find crafters in your area; basically use this site. We intended The Craft Map as a way to connect people and crafts together. If you think of another way in which we can support you or if you have an idea to better our site, please feel free to contact us and let us know acrafter@i(dot)am

Thanks for visiting, and if you haven't noticed, we are glad you are here! Welcome.

Many Thanks to Bargain Briana for the original concept of The Frugal Map and allowing us to build upon a great idea.
